Veriten is an energy investor based in Houston. The firm was founded in 2022 by Maynard Holt, who used to run Tudor Pickering Holt and before that was an energy banker at Goldman. The team has 20 people - investors, analysts, bankers, and former energy operators. Veriten is unusual because it does three things at once: invests in startups, advises energy companies, and runs two weekly podcasts on the industry - "C.O.B. Tuesday" and "Super-Spiked". The firm backs technology across the full energy stack - power, oil and gas, industrials, and the software, hardware, and materials that support them. Tickets are $10-50M at Series A through late-stage. Veriten has 50+ industry partners across upstream, midstream, downstream, utilities, and big tech. Total AUM is $190M across two funds. NexTen Fund closed at $85M in 2023. Fund II had a first close at $105M in May 2026. LPs include Halliburton, Phillips 66, and CIBC. Notable investments: Helix Earth Technologies - carbon capture. Disa Technologies - oilfield decontamination. Virtual Peaker - grid software. ElectraMet - metal recovery from waste. Armada - edge computing for industry. Treehouse - EV charging.
